black tail light guards on silver 4runner

I got these installed 2 days ago at trick trucks in Chantilly, they are black Manik tail light guards to match my black grill guard (also made by Manik).

Here are some pictures, I like them but I would appreciate your opinions.

looks good with your grill guard. personally, on the 4th gen. I don't like the full front guards or the tail light guards. something about the shape of the truck. I love full guards and tail light gaurds on the 3rd gen. and older because of the more boxy rugged shape. it's just my opinion though. good job! :)
 
i hope you didnt pay them to install them because its literally 4 drilled holes and 4 screws.
 
actually, i did pay to get them installed because it was $20. I took the tail light off and figured I would rather pay a little extra after investing the $200 for them to get them professionaly done.

trance: actually, I like them on the 4th gen because of how rounded they are, the grill and tail light guards make the truck look a little bit boxier to me, which i like.

I want to get it lifted about 3" however am having trouble finding a company to do it that won't rip me off. (I posted another topic about that :/)

rsp685: That's awesome, I like the chrome on black or black on silver look, I don't like the black on black as much, or chrome on silver, I think the offset in color looks nice.

I was about to say that. Although I never saw the 4th gens taillight fixture, it probably takes less than checking your oil with the stick. :(

On mine it literally takes four screws out, then back in.... I bet I can do it in a minute and a half.
 
Can't wait to get mine. I bought some online, and they really sucked, so I got these off a friend and they'll be here in a week or so.

Looks good Mike. Personally, I don't see much of a need for them though, but if you like it thats what is important.

atleast for me, its a cheap mod that gives it a nice look. If I get into any performance mods with mine it goes into:

Lifting. Then I'll need bigger tires, and in turn I'll need to regear her. Then, I might as well throw in at least one locker, and hell, by then I might try and do the 3.4 swap.

Either way, lifting regearing and bigger tires go hand in hand for me.
 
oh it's true they are 100% pointless, but it's a cheap (kind of) way of making it look better in my opinion.

actually I guess they could help if someone threw a football at your tail light or something, I dunno :)

94yotarunner: the tail lights on the 4th gen aren't the easiest thing in the world to remove, the bolts to take them off are hidden rather well and it is awkward to remove them. I got them off and was going to drill the holes but I figured for $20 I would have someone do it who could line them up far better then I
 
I can't see the pictures for some reason. Any way you could repost them. I have a silver 4th gen and am thinking about adding grille guard and tail light guards but want to see what they look like first. Thanks
 
The pics aren't there anymore since this thread is over 5 years old and the original poster probably removed them.
 
well since we have done CPR on an oldie, i'll put my .02 worth in. IMO, I wish there were some of these that had a plate or glide on the leading edge. Think about it. If you are going thru brush, catch a decent size limb on one of those suckers, it's a gonner. If there was some sort of a "ramp" that would prevent it, now that would make this product better. Anyone agree with me? If not don't worry, I wont cry.
