Blackout headlights for the 06's???

Anyone know if there is a blackout headlight available for the 06 year model with the projector beam headlights???

More pics would be great! It is kinds of hard to see the seam between the lights and the body. Where did you get them or did you make them yourself?

That looks very nice... i want that! did you do it yourself? Is it the same process as any other headlights? (put in oven,pry it open,paint and seal it back?

sori i forgot to take some daytime pics. I did them myself and its the same process as the 03-05. I just masked the centers and painted around them. there is a right up on how to do the 03-05 there is only 1 defference.You would need a dremel with a cut off blade. It is to shave down some tabs for the reflector inside.

Sweet looks great. Yes I do have a dremel too so that's not a problem. (Mechanic with a full Snap-On toolbox lol)

What paint did you use, and what preparation did you do to the surface prior to painting?

I just used a can of duplicolor gm black its says its a match for the 4runner black. I used their paint prep and green 3m masking tape. I cut the tape into smaller strips only using the real edge to mask the center to the outer bezel. After that i just primed,painted and clearcoated. I cant stress enought on the dremel b-cuz i did mess up a headlight on a tab that i thought i can pull out. so dont try pulling it just dremel it and slide it out. BE READY FOR IT. It is very easy its the masking and razorblading that took forever to do.

I believe those are his stock housings that he opened up and painted himself. Just guessing though, he might have bought a backup set, though that'd be pretty pricey....... :awais:

Now THAT is an attractive mod. It got me thinking how cool it would be for me to paint my own 06 headlights galactic gray to match the car. Upload those day time pictures if you get a chance :biggrin2:
