Block Radiator in Cold Weather (Winter)?

I have an '87 22RE. It's currently pretty slow to warm up on cool mornings (I'm in Tucson, that's approaching freezing). I will be hunting soon at sub-freezing temps.

Is it advisable to partially block the radiator to get it running a bit warmer?

Note: I have no problem with my 4Runner running too warm in very hot weather. The temp guage goes up to its normal spot and stays there. It just doesn't get there in colder weather.

Sure. The big radiator I have to keep the 231 V6 in my p/u cool also makes for less heat in the winter. I completely block it off.
Also make sure you have the correct t-stat installed.
