Blown Icon Shock in Indiana

I have a front-driver blown Icon shock. Icon no longer does the in-house shock rebuild service, so I'm looking for options. They list a number of approved rebuild service centers, but none are here in Indiana.

Does anyone know of a good shop locally here to the Indianapolis area? Not looking to do the rebuild myself. also need to get this done within 4 weeks before we head out on our annual road trip.

Do you guys rebuilt Icon shocks? obviously it's an 8 hour drive to your place and there is the question if that is a smart thing on a blown front shock, but what is your take on things?

Just an update on this thread... Shocks were delivered to Aftermarket HQ in Las Vegas on 6 AUG. They are still there!:cry2: So much for "72 hours after they arrive, they will be shipped out again!"....

Vacation plans just got delayed a week. Fingers crossed its just a week delay.

Truck has been out of service since July 28, 2018

Any competent Icon dealer should be able to rebuild their shocks, at least that has been my experience in the past. Welcome to the world of owning Icon products, this won't be the last time you experience this issue, it's a very common problem with their shocks. Best of luck with your rebuild.

Yeah, ... Aftermarket HQ is listed as one of their certified dealers. Their sales pitch was good, plus the promise of a 72 hour turn around; also overnight parts shipping from Icon if they needed anything that they didnt have in stock.

I know that no parts have been ordered by them in over a week, so that's not it. They simply decided that "Vegas to Reno" was more important to them than prior commitments to customers.

Its all 20/20 hindsight, but at this time I'm committed. Main question now is how much they are charging; which in my mind would be zero at this time.

Yes it does, nobody in this stupid state has a hydraulic spring compressor.

Good lord, how was that not squeaking like crazy for a long time?

Race shocks are enough of a PITA in the desert, I wouldn't even entertain the thought of dealing with them in the salt belt.

Any powersports place should be able to rebuild and recharge them, the coilover spring is the somewhat tricky part if you have 700 in/lb springs. You'll need to find a shop with something like the ($700) Branick 7600 wall mount spring compressor to be able to remove the spring. If you have the 650 in/lb, 1" shorter springs, you can get them off by backing out the collar and normal spring compressors.

Wheeler's sells Icon rebuild kits that include all of the seals and O rings that need to be replaced. The Com10T spherical bearings are available at Summit Racing for an agreeable price. If you need parts like rod ends or shafts, you may need to order those from Icon directly.

They weren't squeezing or noisy at all. When the front dumped the fluid, I stopped driving the truck and went looking for a shop.

Not doing it myself was a time question. Anyway, part access is not the problem. Scott at Icon has been amazing every time I've talked to him. Finding a local shop to recharge has been a problem. Anyway, a long write-up will be coming after this is resolved and my vacation is in the books.
