I've got a 2017 4Runner SR5, pairing an iPhone, with the same problem described in this thread — Bluetooth audio for music and podcasts sounds like it's playing at double speed while also skipping/chopping, and it doesn't resync back to normal — it just keeps going like that until I restart something. Calls over Bluetooth are completely clean, no issues at all.
My guess is this is a clock/timing sync issue between the iPhone's A2DP transmitter and Entune's decoder (rather than a simple buffer underrun, since a buffer issue would usually cause a brief stutter then return to normal speed — this doesn't self-correct). Calls being fine fits with that too, since HFP audio uses a totally different, lower-bandwidth profile than A2DP streaming.
Already tried:
Disabling Message Access (MAP) on my iPhone's Bluetooth settings for the car — no change
(update with re-pair / firmware check results by the time you post)
I'm considering the Hamilton Motor Company conversion kit (full head unit replacement, wireless CarPlay/Android Auto) since it would swap out Entune's entire Bluetooth stack. Before spending $599: has anyone here had this exact "sped-up + skipping, never resyncing" issue on stock Entune with an iPhone, switched to a Hamilton kit (or similar aftermarket head unit), and can confirm it's actually gone? Also curious if anyone's seen this specific pattern tied to a particular iOS version.
