Body swap anyone?

Has anyone done a complete body swap and how does this affect the VIN of the vehicle since every body part has a VIN sticker on it?

Also, how does that impact the ODO?
The reason I ask about the ODO is putting my body on a 4WD chassis seems just as much work as a 4WD swap into a 2WD vehicle

You could just swap the ODO too? Best solution is to put your good body on my 4X4 frame and call it done! I'll deal with the VIN

I have swapped bodies on both a 1st gen runner and a 2nd gen runner. Technically the title should match the frame. Most people who work at DMV don't know that so they just look at dash vin and ignore the frame. I think you can honestly get away with either. If you go the frame route make sure the vin is still legible and can be inspected. I went with frame vin when I did mine cause I had actually emailed DMV and inquired as to which was legit correct.

One more thing... I don't think there are Odometer legalities with vehicles after a certain age. They will just report what they see regardless.

If you can find a crashed 4WD with no frame damage, that might work... But the 4WD swap is 'only' the front diff, trans, welding one crossmember and a bit of wiring for the most part. And it allows you to find trucks with frame damage, which should be cheaper at auction or wherever you fine it.

Remember, you need a lot of space to do a body swap... (like 4 vehicles - two bodies, two frames!)
