This really isn't my expertise, but I think this is an overstatement. Just buy decent electrical tape. Electrical tape is ubiquitous in hot environments.
Wrong. Over time it will fail.

PS, vacuum your carpet!

Thanks for clarifying that you were wrong, I appreciate that -- you said first time it gets really hot, not overtime. It's okay to admit that you're wrong and agree that it was an overstatement. The tape all around that wire loom hasn't unraveled. Of course it will get hotter on the wires but it's electrical tape for crying out loud, that's what .....
Standard electrical tape sucks and will eventually unravel from the heat in the vehicle. Tape that bonds to itself and is not "sticky"will not. I have plenty of experience to support this fact but I'm sure you still know better so have a blast.
Look, I don't know what your problem with me is nor do a really care but I am not wrong. I guess I should clarify things if it bothers you that much, eh?

I definitely agree that you take it back to the shop who did this 'Butcher job' to document it. If you end up making the repair yourself I'd cut (one-by-one) each wire that's been damaged. Slide heat shrink tubing onto each wire, strip, twist-n-solder the copper strands back together, slide the heat shrink tubing over the 'now soldered' wiring and shrink it... DONE!
...So sorry that, that was done to you! "Best to you!"

VERY nice soldering work! I've been doing electrical/electronic soldering for, well, a very long time, and that's as good as it gets. I hope you bought enough solder.
I wholeheartedly agree with your choice for a fix. There is noone, nowhere, I'd trust to replace that loom.
You still need to get that carpet vac'd.
And yes, electrical tape will unravel in time.
Electrical tape will unravel from itself first time it gets really hot. That shop sucks.
Heatshrink and liquid electrical tape is your best bet here, then put it all back in the loom.
I wouldn't use that shop anymore.
