botched TPS???

'04 2x4 w/ ~65K... runs great, no history of any problems.

Just replaced spark plugs (used NGK) and cleaned the throttle body... very routine.

Now engine idles high (~1000 rpm) in park and also down shifts hard when coming to a stop. During the downshift, the idle tries to race back up a bit resulting in a rough jolt. My throttle body cleaning was very noninvasive... just wiped out the throat with solvent. Did I somehow screw up the TPS or perhaps wipe too deeplly into the throat?

ps... my highway mileage has increased to about 25mpg. I'm confused...

I would guess one of two things: 1) the computer just needs some time, unlikely though. 2) A vacuum line is off or broken. If they're all in place check the ends where they push onto their connector. Sometimes old, dried vacuum line can split there and look OK if you just give it a quick glance.

Good luck!
