Bought me a second T4R!

So a couple months ago we sold the wife's Toyota Echo and bought a V6 05' limited. Over the course of those 2 months I've really enjoyed driving it, when she lets me.

I've been reading a bunch on here and have noticed everyone always recommending the V8 over the V6. So a couple weeks ago I came across a 03' SR5 V8 sitting on a Ford lot. I had a look and it looked okay but the lift gate had some nasty rust around the third brake light. A salesman approached and we chatted for a bit. I went in and spoke with the manager and found out that the mileage was 122,000 kms (78,000 ish miles). He offered it to me for 8 grand. I was hesitant thinking it had a bunch of work needed. I drove it and had it checked out by a mechanic buddy and low and behold snapped it up a week later for $7200 all in.

I honestly think that dealer had no idea what he had there. I feel like I stole it!

Wow that is an incredible deal. Good call on fixing the rust before the spoiler, and not just covering it. Rust is a cancer to a vehicle. How's the undercarriage?

the skid plates and rear control arms look pretty bad from what we can see.

It's not pretty but there are zero perforations and everything is solid. I'll be tending to the undercarriage as well. Interior is mint, and everything works like a charm.

The timing belt and water pump were done in late 09' at 95,500 kms.

So your response to not being able to drive your wife's 4Runner all the time is to get a V8 one? Good deal! :D

Also, assuming the '03 is 2WD because of the badging, is the '05 also 2WD?

I guess you could say that, but more accurately she wouldn't let me mod it due to our two young children.

Both 4runners are 4wd

That explains it. I'm normally not a fan of gold but I think it looks good with the cladding. Definitely a nice find. My '03 V8 4x4 was $13,000 a year ago with 78,000 miles. Very little rust and paint shined like new.
