the common failure points on the 4th gen brake are
1. leaking accumulator
2. burnt motor
since your motor is working ok, then its likely that you have a failed/leaking accumulator.
btw old post, how did you resolve this?

Hello, I know this is an old thread but I thought maybr someone could help me here. I have an 03 Limited that is leaking fluid from the master cylinder area and causing weaker braking. Its an old rig that I use as a daily and dont want to put a pile of money into it. Can anyone suggest an inexpensive way to deal with this other than doing the entire master cylinder? I dont find any matches on Ebay using my part number but maybe some other part number cross with it?

I have been up with the popcorn and sweet tea because I knew when this happened that I would go to the forum and start reading and taking notes. even though I have the manual and the part that I sourced from local Toyota dealership for $740 MSRP $920, want to make sure I was replacing the right thing and not the master cylinder, yikes.
This motor doesn’t make a sound when turning motor, it just clicks. The brake pedal test was inconsistent but the tell tell sign was the VSC/ABS (Christmas) lights going off and low brake pressure indicator beep going off.

Thats a super price from a toyota dealership.should be a remanned/used unit, a new unit goes for over $2k.
Would you happen to have your old unit, am looking for a unit, i could tear apart and carry out some tests .
I have a couple of theories on the cause of failure of these units. Would pay for shipping to MD.

I purchased about a month ago when Partznet had a flash sale the pump assembly. I know mine is starting to go and the price was a good opportunity.
Seems to be the most economical way to go as far as replacing the motor and accumulator as a unit without having to individually take apart and put back together (as long as no issues with MC). If I get this done in the near future I can ship you the take-off or meet if agreeable.

my brake is gradually failing though the pump still works ok, swapped my accumulator, thus that leaves me with option 2, ordered it off eay, there is a writeup on the procedure on this forum

Hey all, reviving because this is the best brake/abs thread I've found that deals with my issue... 2003 V8 Limited, during normal driving a few months ago I got the christmas lights + loud continuous alarm, drove it home, the next day it was normal. A few days later the truck did the same thing, and then finally a week ago the pedal lost all pressure and she's parked in the basement garage. Going to test more/order parts this weekend and I'll update as I go.

So... got ahead of myself and went down and fooled with the truck for a few minutes:
(1) turn ignition to ACC
(2) loud, continuous alarm + all traction, ABS lights comes on immediately
(3) tap the ABS motor (?) a few times with pliers, motor comes on (loud, kinda buzzy sounding) and runs for about 60 seconds
(4) loud, continuous alarm stops
(5) brake pedal has some pressure back in it
(6) depress brake pedal twice, motor comes on for about 3-5 seconds, repeat as often as you like
So, leaning towards burnt out motor, although I've heard some say that the accumulator can lead to a burnt out motor, so I might need to do both.

am getting a little confused about the exact or product number for the brake booster motor, could you confirm the correct part number for the motor or compatibile motors as well.
see the part nos of the motor according to toyodiy website : 47960-60090
hwever these other part numbers pop up while searching, and they appear similar as well
