Brake caliper maintenance

What kind of lubrication should I be using on the sliding pins?

So far I've had no problems but I'd like to try and stave off any issues with some PMCS when the wheels are off to rotate..

Actually, are there any other prevent. maint. I could be doing besides the slide pins? Thanks again.

They are cheap at most any auto store. Unfortunately they are not called 'pins' in the parts look up computer.

I used to wire brush them with my bench grinder, but without a power tool it can be just too much work.

I do nothing. I've new set of fronts from carquest with life time warranty for my 2004 Sport. I'll check them again this spring and if bad - free replacement. My point is: earlier or later corrosion will seize front pistons and you'll need new or rebuilt fronts no matter how well maintained. I wouldn't pay for $500.00 OEM with only 30 day warranty because they will fail again. Lube the pins when new pads installed, use 2 spring clips (top + bottom of calliper) and let it be. Now as for OEM front rotors - whole new can of worms.

I use Permatex Brake Lube. It is tackier and seems to last longer than regular grease.
