Just recently I noticed that my truck is making a clanking, metal on metal, (not driveshaft clunk) noise when I apply the brakes sometimes. It does it intermittently, but always when I'm reversing and hitting the brakes for the first time or going forward and hitting the brakes for the first time. It's an 04 V6 limited. It has 101,000 miles, and I haven't had it for very long.
Had it offroad this past weekend for about 5 minutes (If you can even call it that) so not sure if that did anything. (It was a basically a rough dirt road with very deep humongous potholes. I did have to reverse it all the way out after going about 300 feet in and realizing the "trail" was a dead end.
It seems like this could be the solution to my problem:

However, to be honest I don't know what to look for or how to get to that. I figured that many people on this forum know exactly where that is and could write out the steps to inspecting it from memory. My hope is that at least one of those wise people could be kind enough to take the time to explain it to me in very simple terms. I've done basic stuff like oil changes and replacing brake pads, but haven't had a chance to do anything to my truck yet, and rely on it daily to get to work! Looking for kind of a very simple step by step if somebody doesn't mind.
