Brake very hard in the morning

My brakes seem to lose hydraulic power the first time I use it almost every morning. It doesn't happen when I shift into gear. I drive for about 200 feet and then the pedal is very very hard to press. I come to a stop, continue on my trip and then I have no problems with the brakes after that. I have only had the T4R for about one month. It has happened about 6 times already.

any suggestions or help would be great. Thanks in advance.

At the risk of stating the obvious...have you checked your brake fluid level?

Yes, I have and it is fine. It didn't do it this morning at all. It's the weirdest thing. could the cold have something to do with it? It has been very cold here.

It sounds like you have no power assist at first. I guess I would look for a loose or cracked vacuum line. Check the power brake booster behind the master cylinder. It could also be that you have ice on your pads.

Have you ever changed out your brake fluid?

Not yet. I have only had it for one month. I was thinking of trying that though. Maybe the fluid has lost its umph.

Hi, I know this post is old, but I bought my 2000 Limited in November '10 and I have been having the same problem. After starting it up in the morning, the brake gets really hard to press and some days will last my entire 4 mile commute. Other days it goes away after a mile or so. It mostly happens when the temperature is below 20* F. Did you ever find what was wrong with yours? Thanks!
