Broken map light

I was changing the map light bulb in my 2018 premium off road and broke the socket. I was using the tape method and while twisting the tape tight I broke the socket. I was able to get the bulb out and replaced it with a new one. It doesn't work now. Does anyone know if there are any Youtube videos on how to remove the overhead panel? Do you think it will be an easy fix or pain in the butt, expensive fix?

Just did a similar fix for my friend w/ a limited. Stealership wanted to charge like 14 hundred for 5 min anf 2 bolts.

So you have a trail/offroad. You'll need to remove the terrain dials. Use a trim tool or flat head srcew driver or the wide edge, wind shield side (you'll see two spaces for the depression clips) once out, you may want to disconnect the dial unit. if you have a n pro/trail/Offroad, you just need to open the sunglasses holder to access the bolts.

You'll see two sockets, i believe they are 12mm. Pull them out. And the overhead console should hinge and come loose. Disconnect the wires.

You will probably see a small metal disc shape pice fall out when you remove the console. That is the map light mount. Hold it in place with a finger and reinstall the bulb (you'll need to remove the lens first). Try to reconnect tGG e wireing. The bulb and fixture may need to rotate a bit, but it should light up.

You may want to add some super glue or solder to hold the fixture in place.

How do I remove overhead console? 2016 TE

Had the same issue, but I have an SR5 2017. So, I don't have those other controls to gain access. I guess no one on Youtube that I have came across has posted on how to take the overhead console apart to get to the broken electrical socket. The good news is I got the broken bulb out of the socket, the bad is that the little electrical socket is rattling up in there.

Anyone else have this issue with this? Thanks

I have a SR5. To remove the overhead consule is similar. Unscrew the 2 screws inside the sunglass compartment. Use a pry tool get the other end of the overhead consule two clips to release. The map light sockets can be removed from the back of the console by rotating the socket and then lifting out.
