Budbuilt belly pan owners, please help

I bought a used Budbuilt skid. I wanted to replace the skid row so I could install Budbuilt's belly pans.

The seller delivered it to my house while I was at work, I didn't know he trimmed it to fit aftermarket headers.

Looks like one of the major belly plate mounting points is gone... so is this skid essentially garbage for what I need to do? Or can I still use it? He said he will buy it back if I can't use it.

Mount them up and drill another hole where they overlap.

Weld in a couple of filler panels, drill a new hole where it should be.

If you got a good deal on them, it's worth it.

I hope you have the hardware, especially the steering rack mount.

yeah id just drill a couple new holes and call it good. its a shame he didnt tell you about it before. but if hes willing to buy it back, that tells me he is selling it cheap enough he knows A; what its worth, and B; he will be able to sell it to someone else easily. keep it and make it work for you, i know you are smart enough to make something work...

The belly skid will cover 90%+ of that cut. The belly skid overlaps about 2"-3".
Bolting the two together just supports the ends of the two.

I concur. Like Gerdo said if you have the steering rack mount I would keep it. The only hole that seems to be missing is the connection between the front skid and the belly skid. The belly skid mounts to two frame cross members with 5 or 6 bolts (I can't remember off the top of my head) not including the two bolts to the front skid. I would say mount them both up and drill a hole as far to the missing side as possible and call it good. It should be plenty strong. The only reason I would put a filler plate in is if you have a gap between skids that you could catch rocks on.

The sale only included the front skid until I can afford the rest of the pans. It did not come with a steering rack mount... though I do see where it should be mounted... wonder how much that'll cost.

Probably another $50-$100 to have the back fixed? I don't own a welder, so it will cost me...

Bought it from brianemc2_42, I know he's been selling it for a long time, but he offered it to me for $200 and I took it up. But yeah, I was not aware of this modification as I did not see his actual post with pics, etc.

$200 + steering rack mount + weld/fix... new one only costs $289, but Budbuilt's website won't show me the shipping cost for my area.

Does anyone have a photo of their bellypans mounted to the back of the front skid? Just to see how much of a gap there would be. If there needs to be some welding done, plus a rack bracket, I'll probably lose money compared to buying one new.

If you can't get a steering mount from bud, let me know. I can make one for you. I would just need to measurement between the two rear slotted holes in the skid. And the width of the skid at that point.

So I will try and confirm if I still have the steering rack mount. The plate was off my truck for last several months. I kept it in a storage locker and will go back there this weekend to check.

How difficult is it to Fab one? Can it be done cheap?

seriously think about it. the only time people are going to see the bottom of their cars is when they need a trusty insurance company!
