BudBuilt Skid Plates

Can anyone tell me if the BudBuilt Front Skid or BudBuilt Belly Pan covers the catalytic converter?

I'm wondering if this would be at least a partial deterrent to someone wanting to steal the converter? Yes, I'm aware of the CatClamp, but figured if the BudBuilt product(s) added some piece of mind, I'd be getting skid protection as a bonus. If you happen to have some good pictures of any/all of the BudBuilt products handy, I'd be grateful if you could post those too.

The front skid does not. It covers the same thing the factory skid(s) do.

The belly skid does cover the cats....kinda. You could still get them out, but it would be a little more difficult. I would say they are 30% covered. If you laid straight under the truck and looked up, you'd be looking at close to 70% of the cats. A sawzal would still get them out in pretty short order I would guess.

i just went out and looked at mine, id say they cover more like 50-60%. it would not be impossible to remove the cat, but it would slow some one down or make them think twice about trying it...

It makes it a lot harder to get a sawzall up in there. It makes the angle too weird to get the blade in there enough to cut all the way through the exhaust pipe. You can kinda see the coverage in the 2nd pic here..

If they were smart, they would have a ratcheting box wrench with them and just take the belly skid off. Lucky for us, tweakers aren't usually smart. :)

I really don't think you have much to worry about in terms of CAT theft. A few isolated incidents is not much of a big deal.

Did this work out for you? I literally had mine hacked off Tuesday while I was in class. Def considering the BB belly pan though.

My dads cat converter got stolen a not too long ago in broad daylight in front of some office buildings.
