Long time lurker, noob owner. Always wanted a 4Runner but perpetually broke. Wife "gave" me her Jetta last Spring b/c she wanted my Forester. I've driven numerous VWs over the years and am done managing their "quirks". I sold it and found an amazing deal on a '99 Limited - 180k on the body but a brand spanking new engine. Lady who sold it had no clue what she was getting rid as evidenced by what I paid. Installed roof rack and took off the granny boards already. Seafoamed the engine, fuel system, and intakes and switched over to Mobil1. New plugs and belts. Love all the room under the hood - so easy to get my ham hands in there to work. Looking at new suspension and maybe a lift next. Definitely a rear swingout bumper and carrier for the spare and some jerries. Bedliner the underside. I'll drive this thing until it crumbles to dust. Best vehicle I've ever owned - period.
