Build Thread: My first Toyota

Hello everyone, long time lurker but finally I have a reason to post! Last month I purchased my first Toyota and I thought this would be the best place to share it's transformation. Let me know what you think! :happy:

2001 4Runner SR5 4x4. Purchased with 131,000 miles from the second owner. No history of accidents. Vehicle was in nearly mint condition. The only thing missing was the cargo privacy cover. Here is what it looked like the day I bought it:

Spent an entire paycheck on new rims and tires! Daytona Pacers with Kenda Klever tires. When I get time I'm going to take it back to see if they can put the weights on the inside of the rims... Oh and maybe I'll purchase a set of center caps too.

That was really dumb that they put the weights on the outside.. they should know better.

Yes the weights are excessive I would take that back and have it done right. They should spin the tire on the rim and re-seat it at a minimum. Holy Cats thats bad!

I noticed that too. It has the sport front and rear bumpers though which is strange.

He has a sport. If you look closer he has the silver interior trim somebody just put a stick on wood grain trim.

I never even noticed sport had different rear bumpers.

You are right! Who would trade their sweet sweet silver sport trim for wood grain!

It's been awhile since I've been on here because I was on deployment for a bit, but I'm back and I wanted to update what I've done so far.

I relocated the spare to the roof basket and removed the factory trailer hitch receiver. In my opinion it looks way better and I never tow anything anyway. With the weight of the receiver gone the back end was raised almost an inch lol! Anyway, with the receiver gone and the spare relocated I've been getting tremendously better gas mileage. Tomorrow I'll post pictures of the back without the receiver if anyone is curious as to how it looks without it.
