Building a Rear Storage System?

I want to have a rear storage system/sleeping platform built for my 4Runner. I know if I do it myself, it won't turn out as perfect as I want it to be.

Who does this type of work? Would I get in contact with a cabinet maker, or a woodworker? I can't seem to find the right guys around me.

I want it to look similar to this, but a little tidier and clean looking.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong, this one looks great, too. I would just want the drawers to be black, and a different fabric on the sleeping platform.

Most folks that go the custom route but don't DIY go to cabinet makers. I've seen some really nice drawer units on other forums where the owner has gone this route. They can typically build them very quickly with high quality and have all the appropriate slides and latches.

Thanks Hokie. I'd love to DIY, but I feel like I would end up going through a few different versions before getting one that was really perfect. I will hit up some cabinet makers and see what they can do. I'll report here with some quotes from them.

You might want to check out what Dustydriftwood did with his storage unit. He did an awesome job and he might be able to give you some ideas..

Go to a craft show, you'll find skilled guys and probably a lot cheaper than a true cabinet maker. A buddy of mine make and sells stuff at one or two craft shows a year and he is a master. We had a custom bed and nightstands made by a guy my wife saw selling wood working stuff at a show. It's been about 16 years, but we got solid oak king bed, even the support wood is oak, two night stands, a plant stand and a sofa table for $600. All designed to our specs.

I'm planning on building one for my truck this spring, but it's going to be simple. Only tall enough to fit two long rubbermaid tubs. They will be light, easy to take out to a picnic table, etc and water resistant. Just some chip board with similar carpet to what's in your photo.

So the first quote I got was $1500... Seems like a bit much.
