"Burger tray" on 5th gen

Will be upgrading to a 5th gen tomorrow, in case anyone hasn't seen my previous post :) one of the few features I don't appreciate toyota removing is the center console burger tray in the 4th gen. Does anyone have a solution for this? I need that tray to set my phone on/eat my burger on/wrap my ecig on. Thoughts?

I don't have a solution, but my thoughts are that a burger sounds good right about now (11:44pm).

Oh an In and Out Burnger 3x3...Oh that would be so good. With fries well done...

Oh and what is this burger tray? I am intrigued.

Never had an Inn & Out burger, but not sure I'd want one with a name like that. As far as the burger tray itself, most 5th geners probably appreciate the lack of a one more than those that don't. For my phone, I just use the "soap bar" sized cubby next to the shifter to hold my phone. Paired with Bluetooth, it works great. I have the optional slide out cargo tray in the back for anything else that I can't stuff into the center console storage box. Food? Get the Premium package with the softex or leather and weather mats for easier clean up of all the burger parts flying around the seating area after hard braking or hitting that bump.

I was just back home in Cali on business... Had to get my double double fix while I was back. Stock photo for reference.

My phone sits in a soft armor case on the flat in front of the center info display, my fries go in the rubber boot behind the transfer case shifter (Trail), and my burgers generally fit on the flat behind the shifter next to my thigh.

Insert burger into mouth repeatedly, problem solved :) Enjoy the new ride, just picked mine up last night!

I don't eat in my 4runner, especially messy stuff like burgers, and my phone stays in my pocket since the runner has bluetooth and all. I never used that "burger tray" in my 4th gen. Oh and... Five Guys

I thought the reason why we get married and have girlfriends is so we always have someone to hold our food while were driving?

I missed my burger tray also. To those that never had a 4th gen they do not know why we would miss it. I ended up using a Tupperware tub on my 5th gen appox. 8" x 5" x 1" tall. I made a small board that fits in the slot to the right of the shifter and made a flat base with a small piece of aluminum. The tub is painted black and is Velcroed to the base. After painting and putting a black cloth liner on the inside of the tub it looks like it belongs there. My wife keeps her small purse there most of the time but it is very handy for phones maps or anything. I am a vegetarian so I can not call it my hamburger tray. The tray does not interfere with the shifter or passenger room and can be easily removed if not wanted.

Though I did find that to be a useful feature on my 4th gen, The 5th gen has something even better. It's the narrow storage area just in front of the cup holder, and to the right of the shifter. It's the most useful way to hold a wallet and cell phone. I simply drop my wallet in there on it's long side. I can then drop my phone in the leather V shaped cradle so it doesn't move around, and the glass on the phone touches only leather. It's the best thing ever. If you need to charge your phone while driving, get a cigarette lighter to USB adapter, plug it into the socket in the center console, then run the cord out through the provided channel and you have a clean way of charging and storing your phone.

With regard to the burger tray itself, the center console is larger on the 5th gen than the 4th gen, so you'll end up with more surface area up top than before.
