Just took our new 2005 4R on a trip to the mountains and back. We put on 5,000 miles in a month. Twice during the trip we blew the power plug fuse, using the same handheld GPS that we have always had plugged into our power plugs whenever we traveled in every car we have had . We have probably put 50,000 miles on that GPS over the years and never before blew out any fuse. In addition, on several occasions during the trip, when getting out of the vehicle, particularly after negotiating winding roads (lots of those in the mountains) a very strong burning rubber smell (definitely rubber, not sulpher) was coming from the rear wheel well area. On a couple of those occasions it was more than just noticeable standing some distance away from the car. The car was not undercoated by me at purchase. Any suggestions to either of these? Anyone else had these problems? Thanks.

The wheel wells are lined with rubber to help keep the road noise (and debris hitting tthe wells) down. I think this rubber makes contact with some hot parts when the vehicle is fairly new. Also there are several rubber mounts that hold the exhaust in place and they may burn a little until broken-in.
