Buying US 4Runner

I am about to buy a 2006 4Runner in the US. Is there any difference between 4Runners sold in the US compared to those sold in Canada (other than running lights and miles/km)? An owner selling his 4Runner in Canada told me the batteries and alternators are not as good quality in US 4Runners!

I'm no technical expert on this, but last time our dollar neared parity it was a hot topic and I watched a few shows/read some articles about this and there were a few things that stuck with me. Don't quote me specifically for the T4R on most of these as it was a general discussion on all vehicles available but a few things that may be different.

The altenator/battery thing does sound possible. I've also heard even silly things like the size of the windsheild washer resevoir might be different. Not that it's really important.

Another thing is a potential lack of a block heater, which is pretty much essential for most of us. Potential cost addition after the fact. I say potential because I'm not 100% sure of this, I realize floridians wouldn't need them, but the northern states would so it might/might not have one already.

And this one is T4R specific, 2wd was not available in Canada, but it was in the US. So be careful that if you do want a 4wd that you have to ask that question to make sure you get what you want.

Happy shopping and best of luck. Hopefully welcome you officially to the world of T4R shortly!

I believe that Canada spec models have a light that lets you know when your washer fluid is low lol. Other than that I think everything else was covered by gp
