X2 on that 2nd gen Tacoma template. I really think that the angled design on the corners makes the winch bumper visually mesh with the rest of the front end a lot better.

I think the difference between the early and late 4th gens might factor into it as well. Both the existing 4R and the Tacoma models are elegant in their minimalist functionality.

The way I'm looking at it, the squared off protrusions perpendicular to the ground on the earlier 4R models do lend a visual frame with which the squared off bumper matches. However, as clean and minimalist as that one is, it still looks like an add-on to me.

That same framing is angled on the later models, similar to the Tacoma; and, in my opinion, the angles on the Tacoma model and the way they repeat the flow of the angles on the plastic molding itself make it look like a more organic part of the whole - like it was meant to be there.

It's purely a subjective opinion, but to my eye, it looks like they gave a little more thought to the aesthetics of the Tacoma bumper.

Im sure the 06-09 version will be less boxy given the sloped shape of the opening on that model.

Yes the 2nd gen tacoma does look nice, its the natural slope of the bumper that makes it blend well.

I'm definitely interested in one of these for my '06. I like the looks of the angled one on the second gen Tacoma shown above, that style would look slick on '06-'09 4Runners.

Hell yes! This is exactly what I've been looking for. I drive my 4R for work on a daily basis and often have to drive clients to and from the airport, etc. Don't really want a built up rock crawler looking bumper but do want to add a winch and some recovery points. This ticks all the boxes.

Someone with an 06-09 needs to get over there and give them a test fitter.

We are still looking for a 4runner to use for a few days at the shop to design an 06-09 version. So far it hasnt worked out with any of the others we have been in contact with.

I agree with you 100%. I was stoked to see this...but not feeling it on the early 4R's. The Tacoma one looks NICE. Much more blended look and more OEM looking. Was thinking I was going to go with the Bud Built...but if they can blend the 06-09 like that Tacoma...I'll pick this up.
