C4 Fab Lo-Pro winch bumper 4th gen

What finish do you have on your lo-pro? Is it just bare? I was also wondering how you like the CBI skids? I saw they had like two doors on the site and was wondering if these corresponded with the oil filter and oil drain plug? Would you be able to show any detailed pics? I initially was going to try to retrofit the TRD 5th gen plate but for the price I wouldn't mind getting the CBI skid instead.

I painted my bumper with silver wheel paint and a clear coat. Colorwise it matches the 4Runner paint really well but does look bare in the pictures.

I bought only the front CBI skid. It's the most complex skid when you look at sets so I figured I'd let someone else do the work. I will be making my own skids for the area behind the CBI. The front skid I do have has no holes. I've got a V8 and can monkey my hands in there to remove the oil filter without dropping the skid.

Would I buy it again? No.

Long story short it doesn't fit right, they left out the mounting hardware and it is shimmed with about an inch of washers. Prior to shipping they called and asked if I had a diff drop and I said yes. The mounting hardware they eventually sent was too short and the heads too small given the bolt holes in the skid. I was left very unimpressed for something so easy to build and for a name such as theirs.

You're referring to the CBI skid, right? (Not the C4 bumper)

would be cool to see an option with a front mount hitch and winch on it. would love to swap to this setup but like my cbi front mount hitch to much to not have a hitch on the front

No no no!!! Don’t tell me this now!! Your 4runner pushed me to go forth with CBI over all other brands of skids. [emoji24][emoji24]

I'm surprised I thought there were access panels because the picture on their site made it look like there were two cutouts for the filter / drain point.

We do not offer an option for that but some customers do drill holes right in the top of the bumper to mount lights there. Its pretty easy to do, but you would need to have the no bull bar option to fit lights there.
All of our bumpers ship out bare steel, so before painting the bumper you could take it to a local shop and have them weld on a few extra light mounts where you want them.

Not sure which winch he's running but there shouldn't be any access issues with basically any winch. Getting to the freespool lever is pretty easy through the front access cutouts.
The bumper weighs about 70 lbs. Th fitment is pretty straight forward on this one since the cutting is very easy to do. Typically there is around a 1/4-3/8" gap all the way round the bumper.

I noticed the guy with beige 4runner above said a gripe is that there looks to be a lot of room for integrated winch, and it was more difficult with separate style. can anyone elaborate or suggest an integrated winch that will fit of suffice in the 8-9k lb range? thanks.

Hi Tom, yes an integrated winch can fit, but it typically requires cutting some of the grille support brackets and manipulating some of the power steering lines. So to avoid having to do that we recommend non-integrated.
There are lots of winches out there and I would recommend starting with your budget to select one. Smittybilt x20 10k is a pretty nice one for the money, but its not integrated. However you can just mount the control box right to the top of the winch where an integrated one would sit.
I would look into Warn, Superwinch and Ramsey if you want a good quality integrated one.


i want to find a superwinch - aluminum hawse - synthetic - non integrated. hoping to pull the trigger on all this in the next month or two

The shackle hangers are all 3/4" thick now. The thinner ones are photos of older models that you are seeing.

Sorry I just now saw this--I'm sure the information is pretty old, but I'll answer anyway.

I went with a Warn M8000 non-integrated. The winch mounted pretty easily, but getting the solenoid mounted inside the 'bumper' was kind of a pain. There is adequate space to get to the lock/free-spool lever.

All in all, I'm really happy with the final product, and would buy another one from C4 if I was in the same boat.
