related to question to the OP: do I have to put a CA CAT on my 2000 v6 to keep the ECU happy or can I put an out of state CAT on? I just move to TX and code 420 is preventing me from passing the state safety inspection. Thanks.
If you are replacing the cat only (as in cutting it out and having one welded on) then you can use a federal cat as long as it meets your smog/epa requirements where you live. If you are trying to unbolt the old cat and bolt in a new one then you will need a California emissions catalytic converter. This is because the California and Federal emissions exhaust systems have different flanges and the catalytic converters will not bolt up to the other exhaust systems.related to question to the OP: do I have to put a CA CAT on my 2000 v6 to keep the ECU happy or can I put an out of state CAT on?
