Cab Seal Help (for Hardtop)

Hello,

I threw my hardtop back on for winter, and had to also reglue the cab seal (it has to come off for the STC soft top). I noticed a ton of air coming in through the cab bolts inside the hardtop. I do not notice any water leaking though.

QUESTION:

Did I install the seal facing the wrong way? Can anyone take a look at their seal for me if their top is off?

Does the seal side that mates with the hardtop have a groove down at the bottom close to the cab sheet metal? Or is it smooth?

I installed the seal so the groove was facing out, to mate with the hardtop. Maybe I am just being dumb and should pop the caps over the bolts, maybe air always moves regardless of water tight seal?

Just so this thread is not a total waste:

It is correct, the seal has a groove, and that side should be facing the hardtop, not the cab.

The air coming from the cab bolt holes has disappeared, and absolutely no water leaks in (had a bad rain storm and went through car wash).

So know this: If you are buying a toyota cab seal for the 1st gen, make sure the side with the groove faces the hardtop!
