Calling all stockers'...or would that be the non-'builds'?

I haven't bought mine yet, but I'm pretty damn close (baby on the way, could use more interior room than my Silverado). I'd love to trick it out, but I work in an office in Charlotte. If I do anything, I might just level it and put some beefier tires for looks, maybe even tint the windows and plasti-dip.

Ill chime in now that I've owned a 5th Gen for 24 hours now. I guess I fall into the "mod" category for looks and functionality. I went with the sr5 base after having a tacoma with the TRD off road package etc. I live in CT...we don't have many trails around here that I see myself going on frequently. The stock tires as others have said are atrocious on anything but dry pavement.

My plan as of now:

Ordered weathertech's all around
Tinting the front windows to match the rears
Black or removal of badges on the sides of the vehicle
Plasti-dip the roof rails...again here in CT we don't have a ton of places that I have for offroading thus no need for much vertical storage
TRD offroad wheels all black 17"
BFG TA KO2's for the snow (see metric shit ton last 3 years)

Is the truck going to be on the cover of a magazine? Probably not but with that list the truck will be functional and won't detract from the reasons I bought it.

BFG has a 255/75 available (I think) that would be a great option for getting a little height without power loss, and would maintain a narrow tire's snow handling characteristics. Would be a win win for you

I'm right there with you.

All the things that make 4Runner so capable off-road translate to durability and longevity. I'm never going to rock crawl but the roads around Chicago are notoriously bad, which sometimes feels like off-roading, we get a ton of snow, etc.

Alrighty, another Chicago guy! I hear ya, the concrete jungle can be just as bad as some trails. I wouldn't mind hitting some easy trails but I don't ever foresee me doing rock crawls. That's why I went with the SR5 Premium.

I weathertech'd my new SR5, really like it. Easy to install. Want to do some plasti-dip bu t never have done it so I am a little worried about doing it.

It is very easy....silly easy.

As far as the tires...I think im going to go with the 275-70-17 They widen the stance a little bit but they really look great and ive heard awesome things about their traction in the snow and ice

Hey, I'm in the stock boat, too. Only a few practical type things to do in the near future but no plans for suspension or tires for awhile. If too much gets dropped into this truck before my wife has a new mountain bike, I'm in trouble! I've gone through about 4 frames since her last new one...but I keep breaking mine...

Mine will be left stock except for set of winter tires - already bought extra set of 17" wheels. I don't rock crawl or anything like that - live in rural MT and we often need 4x4 to get to the pavement. Until about 15 years ago when I first went to a 4x4 forum, I had really never heard of going 4x4ing. I still have never gone anywhere and probably never will, to 4x4. I use 4x4 to get where I want to go - hunting, fishing, camping or to the PO or grocery store when snow flies. In Feb., had to drive my wife 300 miles one way for surgery - encountered snow, slush, and ice crossing two mtn. passes. It was interstate highway but 4x4 made it a damn lot safer to drive. And, I also like 4x4s - I drive -

As much as i'd love to have my truck look like RiDE, it'll never happen; a lot of my money goes into the house and my other hobby.. and the engagement rocks are some expensive bastards.
I plan on doing a few things, but nothing drastic.

Trail Prem

Picked up my '15 Trail Premium last week so I'm running full stock. For now just planning on adding some sliders and tires at some point. Here are some photos 2 days after purchase heading up a trail gaining some nice views of Gray's and Torrey's (14er peaks). I had hiked this trail earlier in the summer and when driving up it was much rougher than I remembered. Was very impressed on how it handled the rocks/boulders and this was one of the big reasons I chose the 4Runner (for its stock capability and clearance). Almost got some pinstripes down the sides of the new rig when passing by some thick brush, but luckily the marks wiped off.

Mine is bone stock. OK I have had it less than 48 hours. :evil:

I ordered a set of N-Fab step bars so my petite wife can get into it a little easier.
Weathertech mats will probably be next. I have the rear slider so I'm not sure what's available for that yet. I have a big dog that will love to ride back there.

Keeping mine Bone Stock

After modding performance sedans, I was looking for Japanese reliability and for a family vehicle to be used in a suburban area, save for an annual camping trip...enter the 4R.

I was thinking about getting legal limit Huper Optik tint, but will wait and see, I do like the bright interior and overall visibility of the stock tint...all else will remain bone stock.

I’ve had the truck for 3 years now, only mod was losin.. uh.. deleting the cup holder inserts. Yeah.

Houston is notorious for its bogus rigs. I'll bet you will see more decked out trucks and jeeps that have never touched dirt here than anywhere else in the world. Truly, you have a slim chance of talking to a guy or gal that knows how to get to and from 4low and/or turn on or off traction control.

I'll be the first to admit I am not a big off roader. I am still anxious to use my own legs (by foot or mtb) to get to the rugged and remote locations because (A) I love it (B) I can go about as fast as most rigs in rough conditions (C) breaking a car I am still making payments on rubs me the wrong way.

So far, my 4runner has only been limited by my own ability. It will stay stock at least until my new set of tires need to be changed. For now, it is everything I need to get my wife and future minions out into the great outdoors.

Roomy, rugged, and comfortable... why screw with that? I love this vehicle.
