I finagled myself into Sandy here the day before Thanksgiving (perfect timing haha), which I'll be keeping mostly stock, definitely a tint, maybe some LEDS, maybe some new speakers, I'll throw some K02s on her when the Nittos wear out. Hell, I wanted her because she already has most of the mods that I'd consider doing and even those are likely more than I'll ever use. This way if I slide off the road in the winter up here I'll be able to wheel my way out AND look cool doing it.

I took this picture literally 1 minute after she rolled onto the lot, every salesman in the building poured out to get a look-see (there are two more of them on the other side haha).

This is a cool thread and a great forum. I've only been here a couple of weeks and I've learned so much just reading and exploring. :cheers:

These are still my favorite pics of showing what this stock vehicle can do. This is just north of Kokoweef in the Mojave National Preserve from last March. The trail literally ended at this point as the trail was washed out. The trail continued further up and so we had to either turn around or proceed. We proceeded and my stock rig climbed right up. Stock tires and all.

Count me amongst the non-builds. I'll be pulling my running boards off and I "installed" some all weather floormats. [emoji4] The truck is way more capable than what I'll do to it anyway.

Pardon me for asking this, is there a domestic vehicle that is capable as the 4runner with the same price range & completely stock or without breaking after extreme trailing such as this one above?

Most stock 4x4s should be able to do this and more (X-Terras, Jeeps, Tundra, Range Rovers, LRs, etc.) but I think many people are just scared to try it. For me, the trail called 2N17X in Silverwood Lake was the real test. That was a hairball trail.

Jeep Wrangler. The rest are unit body, FWD biased, and/or fully independent suspension. A Cherokee Trailhawk and Grand Cherokee will do most of what a 4Runner will do, but they were very clearly designed with more emphasis on the road than off.

This is my stock SR5, still has stock tires as well and I was still able to hang with my friend's lifted Wrangler. I just wish it had a little greater approach angles but the truck still impresses me everyday.

I mostly just commute and travel with mine (11,000 miles since Oct.1) but this is one of the reasons why I got the 4runner
It pulled like a champ with a brake controller installed.

Damn, what a collection of M cars! M coupes are so expensive now and 90% of e36 Ms are in rough shape. Those both look great.

Thanks! I drove to Maine to pick up my E36 and my buddy drove to Georgia to get his M coupe (we're both from NJ). We were at Virginia International Raceway that weekend. That was an 8 hour tow and the 4runner had no issues.

Out of curiosity what is the weight of the trailer+///M? I always thought the 4runner would be a little anemic to be a track toy tow vehicle.

On a side note I am a bit of track rat myself (Have an E90 M3). While I lived back east I did Watkins, LRP, NJMP. Poconos, etc. Also used to live in NJ but have since moved to CA.

It's about 5000 lbs

It's not V8 power, but it def. can handle it's own towing. Hills you should plan for anyways to save gas. Got 13-14 mpg towing at 75 the whole way down going through mountains, better than my buddy's Tundra towing the same load. Manual shifting helps to have it hold the gear but after 16 hours of towing the car figured out my driving style and was pretty spot on.

I know another guy that tows his 350z on a steel trailer with his FJ cruiser.

I love the E90 M3! The sounds it makes are glorious.
NJMP is the home track but we wanted to try a couple new ones last year.

Mine is stock except tinted window. I am not planning to mod it at all, but will get some better tires for it eventually.
