Can I run 285s?

So I'm gonna be getting new tires soon. Can I run 33s with my current set up? I've got cornfed (burtman) strut spacers up front on the stock strut assembly giving 2 inches of lift. I also have a 1 inch Toytec body lift. I know with my Rough Country rear coils I can fit 33s. Not sure about the front though. I will be getting spidertraxx wheel spacers to eliminate UCA rubbing on my stock 02 sport edition wheels. I will only do light wheeling. Will they rub too much for a daily driver? Any advise appreciated!

Also, I plan on running the treadwright wardens in the 285/75r16 size. Not sure if the brand matters.

Should be fine. You may need to trim a little depending on how much it rubs.

Just the valance and pinch weld? I'm just wondering if the fact that it's only 2 inch suspension and 1 inch body will effect it. I've seen plenty of people run them with only a 3 inch suspension lift. No body lift. Will I rub any differently than one with a 3 inch suspension lift since mine is 2 inch suspension and 1 inch body?

It may be a little different, but I imagine the same areas are going to be your trouble spots. Really, every truck is different (not to mention not every 285 is actually the same size) so the only way to know for sure is to mount them up and take a look.

My buddy runs his 285s no problem on his 98 and he has just the daystar 1.5 inch coil spacers. You should be done if you get the spidertraxx too. You'll be fine. As long as you get a little bit of trimming done.

A little forum searching would give you your answer... This has been covered numerous times, probably at least once a month for as long as I have been on here... You can run 285s stock on your truck. DO A SEARCH

ya, well, you need to do a search on doing searches. :nerd:

Jack the car up, take off the suspension, put on the tires, and slowly lower the car until the tires rub something. Proceed with sawzall.

Rinse, repeat.

there read that, just the first page and you should have your answer

I've read your thread a few times. I should've been more specific. I was asking if the fact that it's not all suspension and it's not very much of a suspension lift would effect how much it rubs. Every truck is different. I know you've run them stock. And I use you as an example of why the 3rd gen is one of the best suv's I've seen so far. Not many in its class can run 285s stock. And I'm fairly sure I couldn't achieve that. I'm just asking if it would change how or where it rubs, and how much. I was hoping for someone with a similar set up to chime in. I should have been more specific and thorough from the beginning. I have searched for someone running a similar set up and only turned up 1 member who hasn't been active in over a year. So I made a new thread. I'm sorry if I added to the list of repeat threads. It gets on my nerves also.

Well if someone can run them stock, I'd be willing to put money on the fact that they can run the lifted... The major rubbing issues are the fire wall, and front bumper valence, and UCAs. You are going to be running wheel spacers so that will take care of the UCAs. The fender and bumper won't be any different in those between a body life and suspension given they are the same amount of lift... The only things that will change are, suspension travel, and track widths... As you lift our runners the control arms/A arms swing in an arch. The more lift the more they swing down and in, effectivly decreasing your front track width. I am running a set of 1.25" spacers on the front now that I'm at full 3" of suspension lift and I am now only a .5" wider track than stock with the spacers. So that's .25" per side. It's perfect imo. At first I was not a fan of spacers cause I didn't want to widen the width and put the tires further outside the fenderwells causing more road spray and rock chips on the paint from the tires as I drove. But once I was forced to get them(tires finally rubbed on my UCAs) I was a believer.

Wow!! I haven't heard anyone mention Cornfed spacers in awhile brings back old memories on the Other Forum YT after I bought my brand new 2002 Runner.

Wheel Spacers can sometimes aggravate the rubbing but with the Cornfed strut spacers and body lift you should be good.

If she starts to sound like a Fat lady in corduroys just break out the 3lb. hammer and saw....

must be cold up there in washington. either that, or you just have to have the last word constantly. Just say " use the search" and let the guy go.

It's all good. Although I was beating a dead horse with that question, he still offered help. That's why I'm here and not on another forum.

Don't see you offering much of any help... You care to chime in with something other than your screen name...?
