Can TRD Pro suspension handle an extra ~150lbs at the bumper?

I have a 2015 4Runner TRD Pro with stock suspension, and have ordered a SSO Slimline Hybrid front bumper and Smitty x20 winch. Roughly 150lbs in total.

Can the stock suspension handle this extra weight up front without causing sag or adversely affecting handling dynamics? If not, what are some basic (and preferably inexpensive solutions that don't require replacing the stock TRD Pro front suspension?

I know this has been discussed here and there mixed into other threads, with differing opinions, but I'd like to have a targeted discussion here.

You're going to get some compression. There's no doubt about it. Just pop your hood and put your weight on the body. You'll see the front end compress. Now, can it "handle" it? It'll still function just fine but putting 150 pounds forward of the wheels and on the nose of the car is certainly going to adversely affect handling. However, you're not driving a 50/50 distributed Porsche here ...

I have this question too, and I was in the market for the exact same products (bumper and winch) but decided against it because I didn't want to mess with the suspension.

How much more rake will this induce?

You should be able to simply replace the springs up front.

The trick would be finding out what the weight and height of the springs that it comes with are. Probably go up to a 650 - 700# spring.

I would try calling Toytec and see if they have a set of springs that would meet your needs. They should.

Once I get the setup installed I'll certainly get in touch with Toytec.

They have a kit specifically designed for the TRD Pro that I had in mind, but with the 150lbs at the front end...that kit may no longer be suitable.

Unfortunately the kit is only a spacer lift in the front, so it won't do you much good with handling the added weight.

Yes, but

I have a SSO slimline front bumper and Warn Zeon 8s winch and there is a slight front end sag. I have put on approximately 20K miles and cannot feel any difference in handling. I have had the alignment checked at each service with no issues.
The only problem I have noticed is the light bar in the bumper has a limited range due to the front end down angle.

I drove mine for a month or so with the factory springs after my install. I lost about 3/4" to the extra weight. The front did ride softer but not objectionably so. Mind you I was on 5100's, not the TRD Bilstiens. I replaced the factory springs with OME 885's to offset the added weight. This got my ride height and the original ride back. But they are static 2" lift springs, so I don't know if that is a route you want to take or not.

I put a Pelfreybilt winch mount and Warn VR8000s on my TRD Pro and didn't notice any difference...only added maybe 70 pounds though.

You will notice by placing that much weight on the front or back of a truck. The pro shocks may "handle it" but you will bottom out easier and the ride quality will decrease.

If you had a heavy bumper, upgrade the suspension. Other option is to go aluminum and save some weight.

So far, no real complaints about the stock TRD Pro suspension with the extra 150lbs up front from the SSO Hybrid bumper and winch - certainly not enough to motivate me to make an immediate change.

In the medium term once I've chosen and mounted a RTT, and possibly a rear bumper with swingout, then I'll look at the suspension again. I don't want to have to be modifying it multiple times as the build progresses.

I am in currently in the same boat as you. I added the SSO and Smitty X20 winch after adding a two inch lift and I noticed I lost about 1/4" of ride height. I am looking into my options as I want to do things once and be done. The cheapest option is to add a additional 1/4" spacer to the top of the front suspension but this really doesn't address the real issue which is the sag due to the weight. Option 2 is replace just the front suspension. Option 3 and the most expensive is to do a complete swap but i did see there is a King group buy happening so that will make it a little cheaper. Again I would rather do it right the first time than continuing to spend a massive amount of cash on installs.

You will definitely need upgraded suspensions if your planning on running a RTT and rear bumper. Although the suspension can handle it, the ride quality will suffer but then again ride quality is subjective. I highly recommend this kit if you are looking for a lift but don't want to break the bank.

I recently put on the Toytec BOSS lift and I'm loving it! Its 3" adjustable in the front and 2" coils in the back with shocks. I plan on running a lo pro bumper and winch as well and a rear bumper down the road too and this lift will allow me to accommodate for that. All I need to do is update the rear coils and adjust the front springs, alignment and I'll be good to go. I don't do much wheeling so for the price of the lift, it suits my needs.

But if you are planning for the RTT and bumpers and other mods that add weight, it will never be one and done. Tweaking and fine tuning your car is part of the build progress my friend. After putting on my lift, I had to take mine in twice for alignment back to back days before a local off road shop was able to get the alignment right.

If you can afford the kings, then I would go for those definitely but don't upgrade just the front or back or you will end up spending more than you need to and will end up using those parts for so long before you replace them with something else. I thought about upgrading my suspension as I added stuff but after thinking it over, i didn't make sense to do that so I saved for a full lift. Be patient and just save until you have enough for a full kit. Like I said above to the OP, I recommend the Toytec BOSS if you are looking for a full kit and don't want to break the bank and sell a kidney. I love mine.
