Can you identify this rear locking differential part?

I am trying to see what this part/assembly is called on a locking rear differential for a 1998 Toyota 4Runner. The existing part was damaged by an idiot with a hammer trying to take it off a donor vehicle and NO, I am not that idiot!

That looks like the front or rear Differential Lock Shift Actuator you are looking at about $480.

This is not the actual actuator on the donor vehicle. I searched for a clear photo on the web so it would be easier for everyone to help me identify.....I wish the one on the donor axle looked like this!!!!

Do t worry to much about the motor as these can be made mechanical for next to nothing!!! If you don't want to spend the money to have it electronic.

Any more info on this? How does it work not being electronic? Is that a cable similar to a parking brake cable now to engage the locker?

Yup same idea as a parking brake constant tension is required for active lock.

It's really simple here are some more pictures to break it down.

Using a solid end cable set up is the best. Some people weld to the lock shaft I don't recommend this. I suggest drilling and tapping a pit joint on to the shaft and just making a cover box to fit over it all.

You can buy a mechanical set up but in my opinion it's about 300$ more then it should be!!

It's a easy modification to put one in a non locker housing as well! So if you have the carrier you can put it in just about any 7.5 and 8" housing.

do you have pictures of the actual motor? mine was in bad shape when i pulled it apart, but a wire wheel and some elbow grease made it work good as new.
