Car Shaking

I bought my Toyota 4runner in 2001 and it has 77,000 miles on it. I have had no problems that is until yesterday, all of a sudden as i pulled out of the parking lot at Wal-Mart the car made this weird noise when turning on, then the engine check light came on and then when i would break at a red light the car would be shaking like crazy, the whole car.

Now im not that much of an expert in cars, but i think it may be a problem with the spark plug..

Does anyone know of whats wrong, and how i can fix it?

We could sit here and speculate based on your description, but because your check engine light is on, there is a code stored that will tell you a lot more. Have the code read at an auto parts store, like auto zone or advanced, for free then report back with the findings.

It sounds like some sort of misfire, however there are many causes, including plugs. Get the code read asap!
