Thanks - I used the same material to make 2 1/8" rips for framing the base. That left it sitting flush with the folded down seats.

Cargo area and seat backs are starting to wear so I figured it time to rip it all out and get to work building a cargo van out of my runner.

Spent about a hour ripping everything out, reading threads, and brainstorming.

Few things worth noting for build direction:
1) I’m a bit of a loner and never have passengers
2) I prefer to sleep in the back of the truck (done enough roughing it for a few lifetimes)
3)I would like the ability to transport heavy large items like a pickup truck (within reason)
4) I like the ability to sit fully upright in the back (6’5”)
5)I’m not a carpenter and this will essentially be my first woodworking project
6) I would like it to be easily replaceable if the wood cracks or warps

2-3x bolts up towards the second row utilizing factory seat/belt mounts. I figure those are plenty strong. For the rear towards the hatch I’m just going to drill right through the floor utilizing some graded bolts and large washers to brace against the sheet metal floor. I plan on keeping the foam for sound deadening, maybe even adding some dynamat because these things are like a tin can.

I have yet to determine how I want to attach the second half (area over the 2nd row seats/foot wells. I’m gonna have to dig around for ideas. I plan on using the area under it for recovery gear and tools.

I’m taking this slow because I want it done right and done once. So I’ll prob roll around with the rear stripped out for a week or two just to make up my mind.

Here’s some pics if anyone is interested. Appreciate any input or ideas. I’ll prob make some sketches at some point to sure up my plan.

Toyota is pretty consistent with the bolts they use up until some of the newest engines , but for most of the frame/body stuff it goes like so:

10mm Bolt Head- M6x1.0
12mm Bolt Head- M8x1.25
14mm Bolt Head- M10x 1.25 or M10x1.5

There is some exceptions like for example the bolts that hold the seatbelts are an M11x1.25 IIRC, but for the majority of misc. body/frame bolts/screws that's what Toyota has used in their vehicles.

Rear bolts circled are M10 x 1.25 pitch x what ever length you need
Front are M6 x 1.0 pitch x whatever length you need

As long as you guys are tearing apart the backs of your trucks, I'm hoping you might be able to tell me where these screws came from. I emptied out the back of mine for a sound proofing project and these were left over after reassembly!?

Bbermann, I see the post is a bit aged, but I just tore apart my cargo area and in the process of putting it all back together. I am also left with those 2 bolts! Did you ever figure out where they go??
