I can't help with the icar pro...
But I have the Carista system and it works flawlessly. I was able to get rid of that annoying eco bar thing, turn the volume of the lock acknowledgement way down, get rid of the seatbelt chimes... etc. etc.
I don't pay the monthly subscription because I don't use it now that everything is set. But I'm sure I would drop the cash if I ever had a CEL that I needed to check/clear.
Zero complaints. Good product.

I haven't used it in a while and I gave it to my 18 year old to check his "Daewoo". Yeah, a freaking Daewoo. I figure he can youtube/google how to work it and and sure enough he found out one of his cylinders were misfiring. But I did play around with it for a bit on my old car and worked great. I had it working on an android phone and my tiny Amazon Fire (with a google play hack).
i used it on my LS460 and it worked flawlessly. i think the app has changed in the four years since i got it so i don't think my app works anymore. i checked the list of what it could do for the 4runner and it does not do what i most want it to do, which is unlock all four doors when you press the unlock on the keyfob.

Mine worked fine. There's no real indication that it's linked to the phone.
That may not be an option with the vehicle itself.

yeah you may be right, but it's such a convenience when family/friends are with you most of the time.
