Monitor Oil Pressure with Torque Pro?

Hi all,

I've been wondering if anyone knows a way to monitor oil pressure thru torque pro. I don't see it as an option on the app. Can I install a sensor that would communicate with Torque? Or any other workarounds other than installing a pressure gauge?

Installing a pressure gauge is about the only way I know of. The oil pressure sensor on the 4runner is just a switch. No live feedback, off if oil pressure is good, on (turns on light) if it drops to low.

Yeah, that's what I've heard too, thanks.

I'm wondering if I can install another sensor that could communicate with the OBD2 port somehow. I know the Tundras have oil pressure gauges, and race car guys are able to monitor it thru their computers. Not sure what kind of work that would involve or if it would even be worth it.

Out of curiosity, do you know what pressure will trip the oil light?

On the light issue on when it trips on. Its low like around 5 psi or so. They run low psi at idle when warm and that is how they were designed to be. Now this is if am remembering correctly. Other members can verify is common to see low idle pressure though.

I put a oil pressure gauge in my 4runner when I did the oil filter relocation. IIRC warm idle is around 10-15psi of pressure, varies by rpm but I've seen as high as 80 psi. And it's insane when cold, almost 100 psi!

I saw a kit from Summit for the filter relocation, seemed like a cool idea. How do you like it? Any reason why I shouldn't do it?

as others have said , you cant get the torque pro to read oil pressure. I wish it could as I have used it on three 3rd gens.

The old-school rule of thumb is at least 10psi per 1000rpm of the engine. Most are about double that up to the relief pressure (60-100psi, generally). High pressure when really cold means the pump is overwhelming the relief valve, but that's ok...

[MENTION=442099]prybar[/MENTION] I did it for a few reasons. Biggest one is I'm running a cs144 alternator. Needed as much room as I can get. Second I was tired getting oil on everything. And I'm now running a Mobil m1-301a filter, about 3/4 quart more oil. It's located drivers side just behind the steering rack. Pressure sensor is on the inlet hose of the adapter. Really like it a ton! Some may say it adds more failure points, which I understand. If you use quality components, fittings, and hoses I see no issue to worry about. Just check it every oil change. I'll be adding a quick drain valve on the oil pan next oil change.

I diy'ed the filter relocation, made my own hoses, billet adapters instead of cast for durability and strength. Makes filter changes like 30 seconds or less.

[MENTION=139000]phattyduck[/MENTION] IIRC it was between 80-100 psi when it was about 30 degrees fereignheigh outside, but I always let it warm up for a bit at that temp before I drive. Everything else is within operating pressures, so im not worried. Like someone on here said, with a gauge you always watch it, to much at times.

Slim Oil Pressure Gauge

Hi, i dont think 3rd gen 4Runners having oil pressure measuring how much pressure engine has. for that im installing a slim oil pressure gauges from AliExpress. to keep using the factory one as well you will need to have an adapter to accommodate both sending units.
