CarPlay - wired or wireless on the '23/'24?

Those who have a '23, is your Apple CarPlay wired or wireless?

I saw a reference when looking into the '24 4Runner that you had to physically have your phone connected for it to work. I just bought a new Ford truck for our business and it is wireless.

Curious if what I read was accurate as I'm assuming they did not change a thing from '23 to '24.

Disappointed to see the 5th gen continue for '24, given the increase in '24 costs I am highly considering a Tahoe now. If I am going to purchase something new I would at least like the most current tech in the vehicle as I plan to hang onto it for a number of years.

Yup, still wired CarPlay - just took delivery on 10/25 of a 2023 ORP and it uses the wire. Not my ideal choice either, but I’ll live with it or buy a wireless adapter someday.

According to MotorTrend, the price increase from late 2023 models to 2024s is $300, less than 1%. That would be misleading if you compared it to a 2023 from last year though--2023 had two mid-year MSRP increases: $750 on 1/1/23, and $600 on 5/1/23.

Yes, it's an outdated infotainment, but yes the wired carplay does work. If this is your hangup on buying a brand new 5th gen, other vehicles are probably better suited to you. Might just wanna hold onto your 2010 1-2 more years?

Would a 2024 Land Cruiser 250, which has an all new powertrain, chassis, and infotainment, be up your alley once they're available in a couple months?

its an aftermarket one and he doesnt know which model it is, very vague when he posts about it.

Perhaps you priced out a '23 Limited before calendar year 2023 began and compared that to model year 2024 prices. Like I said, the late MY2023 to early MY2024 increase was $300, and 2023 had two mid-year MSRP increases on Jan 1 and May 1.

You could get a few thousand off MSRP on a 2023 Limited right now in at least half the country, if that helps sweeten the deal. It's not like the 2024 gained anything.

If you want most current tech dont let that be up to the manufacturer and what they put in. Just go aftermarket which will be far superior.

Choosing a vehicle based on tech is a bad way to go.
