CarTrimHome Android 9” Audio Replacement?

Could a custom harness be created to allow me to use the head unit in my 2012?

Love the clean look of the unit.

Custom harness yes it could, just not plug and play. They supposedly were working on a harness for the 2010-2013's but I haven't seen any updates that this occurred, so you'd have to wire it yourself

I'd save the headache and wait for the 2020 4Runner and buy that head unit.

If you read any of the reviews on these units people are massively disappointed.

notice that the few members who were praising this unit as the new coming have completely dropped off the forums. They were in it for a quick buck, talked it up a lot, and left as soon as the units started shipping because people were pissed that they were crap.

save your money, dont buy this.

Actually most of the discussion just moved to a FB group dedicated to 5th gen 4Runners. The guy that was pimping them the hardest here is in the group and still very active with supporting them and dealing with the manufacturer. He's irritating and a little abrasive, but mostly helpful. I think it moved there mostly because in the group you're able to get support directly from the manufacturer in China. These head units have their issues, but I have to say lack of support is not one of them. The seller has been great. Recently they replaced at their cost - including shipping - the CarPlay dongles for anyone that purchased the head unit with the dongle. They found the one that they initially sold was not working well, so they replaced it at their own expense with a unit that they believed was better.

As far as the rest of it goes, I'm not disappointed with my T8 at all. I'm actually very happy with it. I understand the complaints that some have, but those are either things I knew going in and was willing to overlook, or things that don't affect the way I personally use the unit.

Has anyone thought about sourcing a front bezel and the 9.8" touch screen and building a custom android auto head unit using a Raspberry Pi 3?
