Cat Back

Finally got a day off so I'm going around to exhaust shops to get quotes ect. I'll post my findings when I get back. Looking for a magnaflow cat back. Does anyone have any advice about what size pipe to get? I've been told that a 3" pipe won't give enough back pressure and that I should go with a 2.5" pipe. (and yet a buddy with a 99 tacoma got a 3" pipe on his and says it's great). To be honest, I don't even know the mechanic's of how an exhaust works so if anyone can help with the education I would appreciate it. Looking for a nice low sound (no rice burners) performance and MPG.

After driving around and talking to a few shops I'm going with a 18" Magnaflow muffler. Not going to change the pipe at this point. Stoked. :biggrin2:

"farting rice burners" is the result of cheap mufflers and/or removal of cats (ie: straight pipes)

My civic has a $225 Arospeed with a 3" exit flange and it sounds like a flowmaster. Stock piping and cats, just the bolt on muffler piece.

A lot of misconceptions about "rice farts" out there, just as there are "chevy farts" and everything else. Removal of cats do that.
