Cbi hybrid rear bumper hi lift mounting issue.

So I got my bumper mounted and hit a few issues with it. The # 1 issue was no paper instructions for the install. I downloaded what I could for the bumper portion from their website, but couldn't find anything for the swing out. Called and Nathan sent me some pictures of how it went. #2 most of the hardware bags were busted open in the box, so had no clue what went were. A lot of trial, a lot of errors and some missing hardware.

Now an issue I can't seem to figure out. How does the hi lift mount mount up? Every picture I see, the lift goes on the bottom of the swing out, on mine, the holes are drilled on the top. This causes contact with the rear hatch when closing if you don't push the swing out passed the locking spring pin. I feel like I'm making this harder than it needs to be, I've moved the jack in everyway I can think of.

Can you take some better photos? I have this bumper and can't tell what I am looking at? Not trying to be a jerk, I am genuinely interested as I want to mount a hi-steer soon and likewise did not enjoy the lack of installation guides from them lol

I'm curious too now. I have the same new redesign but I haven't tried mounting a Hilift yet. I noticed though that it didn't seem to swing out as wide as the other one I had (there was a problem with the first swing arm) so I wonder if they positioned the stopper plate wrong on this new design. I'm wondering if it's going to hit the table once that gets mounted up too.

After looking at their Instagram I found a picture of their hi-lift mount on their Tacoma and it's exactly like yours, the only difference is Nathan has the mechanism slid up the jack about a foot it looks like.

Can you remove the hi-lift with the swing out closed...? If not, that design is terrible...

Maybe if you flipped the jack 180 degrees so that the mechanism is on the opposite side?

Should have just asked you in the first place. That solved the problem, clears by about 1/8 of an inch. Can't flip it, then it would interfere with the camp light if you had it. As for removing while the swing out is closed, once I get the tire mounted, I doubt you could get to it easily. I'm not fan of it up there. Not sure why cbi moved it from down low like yours, but that's where mine will end up.

I am not sure why they moved it. On yours, it looks like with your hi-lift (which appears to be much longer than mine) if you had it mounted where mine is, it would hit the latch for the swing arm. It's also not much fun squatting down and wrestling with the jack trying to mount it up under the spare. With the swing arm open, that's going to be much nicer to get to. However, with the tire on that's going to be quite difficult to remove without opening the swing arm. I've been in situations twice now where my rear bumper was pinned, and the swing arm could not be opened.

When did you order your bumper? The new table latch system (which yours doesn't have) is freaking sweet. No bolt for my wife to lose.

False alarm, it's still making contract. I guess I had the bumper past the lock lin. Wait, there's a new latch for the table? I freaking hate that bolt. Ordered it June 8th

That's bothersome man... I know Nathan has been all over the country this past month or two doing shows and what not but SOMEONE has to be in the shop to help you out.

Yeah, you can see the new latch in that instagram picture I linked above. It has two points that the table just kinda snaps into. Pretty slick.

So, talked to Nathan, didn't have an answer. He needed to talk to Steve to figure it out. I called at closing time and he had already left. As for the table snaps, they're not in production yet.

I called on Tuesday and they're hoping to have the new table design by the end of this month. I still need to try out a Hilift on my swing arm to see if it clears.

Also I don't know if your mount is in the right spot. On mine, those bottom tabs lined up with the T shaped slots to the right of those lower tabs.

Can't mount it there as the jerry can holder blocks where the hi lift stud goes. I thought to might be onto something, so I just went out and switched it. Still makes contact even with it moved.

Steve called me back, turns out the locking pin was put in the wrong spot. I'll have to send the pin plate back so they can make a new one. He said my tire probably wouldn't clear either once mounted.

OMG They really improved the design of the bumper, talk about buyers remorse here! Especially the tire carrier, my version has a not so great design (It falls apart on the trail from vibrations, gonna have to get it welded it on to keep from that happening)
