Trail Ride…Carveacre Trail and Pancake Rock
LIGHT EM UP!!!!!!! This run is designed to depart the staging area at 4:00 pm (daylight) and return to the staging area between 8:00 and 9:00 pm (evening). A really great time to use those really cool off road lights.
This trail is fun for both the novice and experienced off roader. Carveacre Trail is a 5 mile long fire road that is not maintained (about an hour long). As the weather erodes the road, huge ruts develop making the trail funner than your average fire road. This is a moderately mild trail that is suitable for stock 4x4 vehicles, however, novice drivers and those with stock vehicles may need to be strapped through some of the rougher areas. At the top of the trail is a granite plum that you drive straight up to the top where there is a wonderful 360˚ panoramic view. The trail continues down for another mile and ends at a rock garden. The goal is to arrive at the top of Pancake Rock for the sunset and then start back down Carveacre Trail soon thereafter. Bring your chair, warm clothes, snacks and beverages.
Meet up time: 2:30 pm
Meet location: Los Coches McDonald's in El Cajon (Los Coches McDonald's - Los Coches McDonald's).There is a Shell gas station here as well where you can fuel up and grab any last minute snacks.
Departure time: 3:00 pm. Leave McDonalds and head east on the 8 freeway Japatul Valley Rd / Hwy. 79
Vehicle recommendations: Bone stock to modified, but running boards/step boards or Predator style sliders not recommended.
