Calling all Central OH T4R owners! I know [MENTION=64685]TOY2G[/MENTION] has mentioned a possible meet up at an off-road friendly dealer, so I figured we should start a thread just to see who else is in the area and just chit chat about stuff. This also could be used as a tool to help people who aren't native to the area. I'm always fine with answering any questions about the Columbus area so ask away!

Great Idea, I am working with the GM at a dealer in East Columbus (it's always nice to have dealer support) I have been on a tight schedule as has he, so our sit-down keeps getting pushed back.

In the spirit of this thread, I am in Hilliard (West) but moving in July to the country (Galloway to be technical but out away from the hood)
 
Great news about finding an off-road friendly dealer. I completely understand... Cold winter inside makes for a busy one outside! I am in Reynoldsburg, but lived most of my life up in the city of Delaware, about 30mins from Columbus. Galloway is decent, a couple of family members of mine live off of Galloway road south of Broad. I used to work at UPS off of Hilliard-Rome. That sucked!
 
I'm in Reynoldsburg as well. I actually just met another guy on the 3rd gen forum that's also from Central Ohio.

I think we could have a solid turnout for a meet and greet. I just bought new tires last week for my '99 and I'd love to hit a trail sometime this summer.
 
I was thinking we could even make t-shirts for our M+G. Ask the GM of that dealer if they would mind if we put their logo on the back, maybe as incentive to let us host our meet up. :whip2:

Just some ideas milling around. Unfortunately I don't know of anywhere legal that is close by to wheel. I was thinking about heading down to GWNF in VA or heading over to Indiana where there are places to wheel. I'm sure we can figure something out.
 
Hey guys, since we're all here I'm hopeful that some of you long-time Ohio guys wouldn't mind shareing some of your knowledge with me.

Back in San Diego there is a shop called San Diego Trux and all the owner specialized in and worked on was Toyota trucks and suv's. He never over-charged, always had a fair price, and always remembered the first name of every one of his customers.

Do you guys have a go-to shop like that out here? Some things like oil changes and brake pads I'm comfortable doing myself, however when it comes to anything more serious I like to take my truck to a professional who can stand behind his work. Anyone have a shop they like out here?

While I'm at it, does anyone have a Toyota dealership they trust? One of my co-workers says not to go to Toyota Direct and that they basically tried to rip her off, but I haven't heard much about any of the others. Germain Toyota is the closest one to my house, but for good parts and service I'm willing to drive a bit.
 
If you're on the east side , you could look up "trails west" I've picked up some 4x4 parts there, and their install prices seem fair, though I've never used them.
 
BTW, a good resource for locals is the Columbus racing forums, a lot of good guys and businesses on the forum.

I would, but this week I have family in from San Diego and I'm pretty much on lock-down while they're here.

As soon as I can finalize with the wife, I'd like to host a bbq at my house sometime here in the near future.

Awesome news on the cookout. I'd be interested and would have no problem bringing some things to throw on the grill.

As for Toyota shops, I can't say I know of one. I take my truck to Toyota Direct for now, since my apartment complex is strict about working on vehicles. I have heard great things about trails west, but keep in mind they specialize in Jeeps and Full Size trucks. However, I think Toyotas are probably the only import that has enough aftermarket traction that they support as well. I will talk to them when it comes time to install my lift, as if my life is anywhere near as busy as it is now, I will never get it done. Although with all these 4Runner guys, maybe a maintenance day when it comes time to lift will help breeze things along and save me some coin!
 
Taylor you are more than welcome to come over when you decide to lift. This Friday anyone wanna try to meet Around 9ish?

I just picked up a pair of day star 1.5 inch spacers, for a cheap level for the time being. Any recommendations
 
Just a quick followup. I am working with the fixed Ops (for service) at the dealership now. He is very interested and is considering being very involved. The big hangup is and always will be, the dealers exposure (read liability). He has mentioned having a "car show" of sorts where they clear out the front of the lot and park the modded rigs up there, with a cookout and perhaps even prizes. its a little ambitious IMO but it all starts with a little excitement.


BUT most importantly... who is this.... and why are you driving my truck?
