Changing default weather location in entune

Today I noticed that the weather app is giving me the weather for a location at the beach which is about 15 miles from where I am. Thought the app would update the weather based on actual location, seems strange that it would pick the beach for the area weather. Anyone know if there is a way to get it to register for the actual vehicle location??

I believe the weather is updated via HD radio. Mine will only update in areas where it can pick up an HD radio signal.
Not saying this is the only way it can be done but in the 3 years I have had my 4Runner, this has seemed to be pretty consistent.

that must be the only HD radio station you're getting

do you have the entune app running on your phone, i think it will also get data that way

The weather feature is pretty useless. it will not update the location as you are moving around it would only pick up the weather in the first location that the screen turned on. If you push APPS then push HOME it will come back with your current location.

We live in Wylie, Texas. It does not recognize our city. It says we are in Rockwall Texas, about 10 miles away. Even when I drive to my church parking lot, three miles from my house in Wylie, it says I am in Plano.

I drove one time from Granbury, Texas to Wylie, Texas and it never updates the location at all.

I personally think it is really lacking in any kind of use, especially given it uses the Weather Channel. With GPS it should be able to tell you were you are an update the weather every five minutes and not every 15 to 20 minutes.

It would also be nice if it would give you any weather warnings for your location too.

Any app on your phone is gonna be better than this.

graysquirrel, this pretty much sums up what I was thinking..

"With GPS it should be able to tell you were you are an update the weather every five minutes and not every 15 to 20 minutes.

It would also be nice if it would give you any weather warnings for your location too. "

Also wouldn't it make sense that it would be able to sync the location through your phone somehow when its paired?

without pairing your phone the vehicle has no data connection, so it is relying solely on HD radio for weather and traffic. I think the weather entune uses is specifically from iHeartMedia owned stations (not 100% sure about that though) so if the nearest station is 15 miles away that's the best you can do regardless of your location. It's not a data link like your phone, what you are getting is an NRSC-5 radio signal that has enough bandwidth for audio (HE-AAC format) and a bit of data.

All that weather app is doing is taking the weather data and formatting how it's displayed, it's not really an app in the same sense of how weather apps work on your phone where it is dynamically getting data from a server. HD Radio is still just a one way radio broadcast, if you want you can even receive and decode it on your computer with <$30 worth of equipment (search "rtl-sdr")

Jeremy- mine has said Orange Park since the day I bought it from Toyota of Avenues. I gave up messing with it and just use Weather Underground on my phone...
