Changing the 2 tone, new black/tan

After a year or so of the graphite/black scheme it is time to do a refinish. I've decided to go army tan this time around, all including to be painted are snorkel, rockers, roof rack and rear bumper. Taking the day to do this so I'll update here and there if I come back in. If we are done soon enough we will be painting the cruiser wheels black today as well. Here are a couple teaser cell phone shots of the rack and snorkel head. I've got an image of what it'll look like in my head, cross your fingers the end result is just as pleasing haha

this is gonna look pretty sweet i think. can't wait for more pictures. you always do a quality job so i'm pretty sure your image in your head will be very close to the end-result.

the snorkel head is done with its second coat and after abrasion tests its holding up great, a few imperfections from the plastic being messed up, that head has been beat pretty bad the last year and a half. just got done sealing her down, finishing sanding the last coat and we'll be off. should be done in about 2 hours

i'm thinking of doing the wheels tan instead of flat black, i have until i'm done with everything else to decide, let me know what you think

only starting the first coats and the bottom of the snorkel, man i'm so glad i did this. i'll wait a while for a real update, just had to show you all

it does look good, i'd go black on the rims. you think about maybe painting the emblems, license plate surrounding piece, and the taillight guards tan too? i think it would make it stand out even better.

you need a piece of trim to balance out the black to tan on the doors, other than that nice job

i am contemplating it, but will end up having it powder coated to match if i decide to. for now i like the black. i will end up painting the tail light guards, the license plate surround, emblems and the outlet lattice on the snorkel within the next week if i have the time

another idea i had after looking at it for awhile, you think maybe you can get those BFG logos in tan? that would look pretty sweet and tie everything together even more

tail light guards, license plate surround and snorkel lattice are all in line for tanifying (i may copyright this, watch out). if i paint the arb it will be powder coated to match, not much free time so it could take a while to get to it if i even decide

I was about to say do the front bumper to match. Just the body of the bumper leave the tubes on top black that should keep similar lines of rockers. But looks good. I am a big fan of Army tan. then again 20 years in the service makes you that way..Your truck always looks sweet and very capable off-road.

thought i'd double post to show step 2 of the scheme, today is the license plate fascia and the tail light guards, along with painting the 4runner emblem flat black, should have it finished within the hour

I'm done finally. Here are some cell phone pics. Ended up getting 2 led light strips and mounted perfectly between the bottom of the grill and the ARB. I'll let you know the plans for phase 3 tonight, it does include the arb going tan

Okay here are some real resolution pictures for you guys to show off the paint, the arb leds and a temporary scooped hood. Gobi ladder will be here next week and the rear bumper build will begin in the beginning of October and a few more goodies will be added along the way

everything looks GREAT! however, imho you should throw a trim piece down the side to lower the tan there to match the same height as the rear bumper.

oh yea, with the taillight guards done and the license plate holder done tan its looking pretty sick. the arb would make it perfect but like you said before i dont think i would want to powdercoat something that nice and expensive.
