Check Engine Light?

I just purchased my 1st 4runner. Very clean. It's a 95 SR5 4wd with 127k miles. I have all the service records that were done on the car. Recently the timing belt, water pump, smog (passed) and oil change

I picked her up some 40 miles away and drove her home with no problems. When i got home i removed the amp and subwoofer. I then noticed the "check engine light came on". I then disconnected the - cable 1st, then positive power cable that went to the amp from the battery. The "check engine light" then turned off.

Just this morning, the light was off, but came back on just a while ago. She just had an oil change some 100 miles ago. I do notice at times she idles a little rough when stopped and see the needle jump a little,

Any help would be appreciated

Try cleaning the MAF sensor if it has one.
