We use the same airbag concept to lift damaged aircraft after an incident, they key is to make sure the load is centered so it doesn't roll off when the bag inflates...great idea for loose surfaces though.

Maybe just me, but I believe I would use that for changing a flat on the highway too!!!

So I’ve been thinking a lot about jacks latley. Hi-Lift, Safe Jack kit, OEM w/ block etc... This one (X-Jack) does seem particlualy well suited to sofet surfaces like sand. I wonder what people’s experience w/ them has been as I’ve not read any personal real life expereinces or reviews. Gotta also wonder about durability and versatility. I’m thinking you proabaly wouldnt want this to be your only jack. That price tag isn’t cheap.

I don't have one, but I've seen them used a few times successfully. Once was in mud so it got absolutely caked which, predictably, got transferred into the vehicle

I use mine several times a year. I love it, much safer than a hilift even on solid ground, and 10x better in snow or sand. It's designed to run off your exhaust, but if you can't get a good seal on the exhaust pipe you can also pump it up with a halfway decent 12v compressor. They're very sturdy - I wouldn't work under a truck supported by one unless I had to, but I would if I had to. Can't say the same for a hilift or bottle jack. For lifting the truck to change a flat or stack rocks/traction ramps, these are perfect.

It's basically leverage, each individual pulse of exhaust only expands the bag slightly so each one only needs to do a tiny amount of work. Even a little 4cyl motor will get a truck off the ground, as long as you don't have an exhaust leak.

While it does look like a good all around jack, especially for the soft stuff which tends to be the most problematic, do you folks think the durability warrents the price... that is, will it be durable end hold up long enough to justify the 260 price tag?
