NO JOKE! i living in Arizona for 2 years and we were supplied with chevys, (not my choice of vehicles, i was stuck with the colorados for 15 monthes) the colorados are so low to the ground! even with 4wd we managed to get it stuck in the sand/snow. altho its a truck. they are stiff as a rock and sucks as a vehicle! the 4 door are so small, the back seats make it impossible to get in and out (im 6'2)
recently there was a video i saw that a family got stuck in the snow and had to spend the night in the truck until someone managed to come up the same trail to pull them out. i laughed when i finally saw what vehicle they were driving.... a colorado!

I had a buddy who worked at the parts manager for a Chevy dealership for three years; the most parts they kept in stock that were not for normal wear and tear were for the Colorado. He said the idea was nice on paper, but the final product was worse than atrocious.
I really want to have a head count of the number of people who bought that contraption with the 5.3 V8 in it.

IMO, the biggest flaw of the colorado and the S10/Blazer that preceded it is the frame design. It hangs really really low for a truck, and even has a "rock anchor" downward bend built into the frame. You'd almost have to do a spring over axle swap just to get halfway decent ground clearance. I will say the 5-banger is a very good engine on paper, and the option for a V8 in a compact pickup is also pretty sweet.

I thought the avalanche looked stupid, chevy one up-ed it though with the new model colorado.
I thought the current 2012 model looks pretty good but my 1st car was a chevy pickup. One chevy was enough for me.

My work truck is a crew cab 2008 Chevy Colorado... I hear ya on a lot of this stuff, I can relate with the backseat, it's insanely hard to get out, as a tall dude. I did consider buying one briefly before I got the 4Runner, but I can't imagine not having my 4Runner.

I hate to say it, but my Colorado was fine for what it was. I bought mine as a work truck, and while it was a little more expensive than a Ranger, it has more legroom. I bought a stripped down 5spd with the 4cylinder engine. It had plenty of power tow a heavy 6x12 trailer with a motorcycle through the hills of Austin, and pulled all my stuff from Dallas to Virginia. Would I buy another for a daily driver? No WAY! As soon as I no longer needed it for work I got rid of it. I don't know why they are even bothering to redesign the Colorado. It was a horrible seller, I think we sold a dozen or less in the 2 years I worked for a Chevy dealer. We never had more than 1 or 2 on the lot, while we had at least 20 Fullsize trucks.

I had a Colorado as my first truck it was a 05 I liked it just didn't have the room I wanted. This was when in highs cool so the loud system was in and having your buddies in the back jamming out was cool. Wasn't happenin in that thing. So I agree with the rear leg room.

A 4Runner could get stuck in wet grass, let's try and not be brand biased here. Makes you look a bit ignorant...
I had an 05 Colorado, extended cab, I5 4x4 Z85. I bought it new and in 7 years put 63,000 hard miles on it. It did everything I asked of it, without issue. Been all over MI on 2 tracks, sand, mud....
Its not a rock crawler, so complaining about ground clearance is stupid.
Its not a mud truck, so complaining about traction is stupid. Especially if one doesn't upgrade the street tires that come on it.
Its not a full size truck, so tall people complaining about interior space is stupid. (I'm 6'3 and had plenty of room.)
Its not a Cadillac so complaining about the harsh ride is stupid. Its a truck. Comparing it to the 4runners ride is also stupid since the 4runner is considered more of a luxury vehicle than the Colorado.
I could run all day at Silver Lake in 4hi, with no issues. I did not have the G80 in the rear.
The only reason I sold it was to get something with more interior space. We recognized that an extended cab midsize pickup isnt going to work with a growing family. Just so happens I found a 4runner within my budget.

The 01 runner I have now does not like to be driven in sand in 4hi. When I do it, the tranny temps skyrocket and that is with an aux. cooler. It clearly struggles. I never had this issue with my Colorado.

Drive nicer is a subjective thing, I am sure on some Colorado/Canyon forum somewhere someone is saying how much better their vehicle is than X vehicle.

I can't speak for driveability, but a few years back when I would run my Chevy Silverado at the track there was a guy who had a Colorado(Extreme, I think...) that he ran there and it ran!!
It had a 6.0L swap with cam, heads, bolt-on's and I watched it many timesrun 11.XX's...
The last time we talked, he said he was adding a turbo set up. I can imagine that IF he did, he'd have that street legal, stock looking Colorado in 10.'s, easily...
