Did a little Christmas mod tonight :D

(Sorry for the bad pic quality, i had to mess around with the settings so the lights actually showed up)

BlairB ... how was it wired? under the hood ?

christmas season here is 4 months long... so need some of the lights to cheer us up!!

I know you were asking Blair but... (I'm a post-whore) :D

I used 115v LED lights, wrapped them tight and used a few zip-ties. No bulb can contact paint. I then used a regular zipcord style extension cord. It's worked great for two Christmas' in a row.

I have one of the 4runners with a 110 outlet in my center console, so I just run two extension cords out, under the rear floor mats and up the b-pillars. Basically, what Chris did.

Chris, two things if you don't mind.

One, why can't they touch paint? Any reason other than vibrations can shatter them?

And second, is that electrical tape on your truck to keep the paint from being scratched?

Not worried about shattering as they are very thick... I am worried about abrasion from the vibration of the wind and bumps. I don't want the paint scratched up. I can clean and re-wax any tape residue easily, scratches aren't so easy.

My paint is way too trashed to be too concerned, thats what off roading does to you :bigok:

Yeah, its all that desert brush. And it's not ruined, it has character now :D, it shows that I use it how it was meant to be used.
 
A much easier solution to your wiring problems fellas! I am a manager at Walgreens and we sell some LED lights that are battery operated-primarily for wreaths that are on doors that you do not want to run wires to. It will give you a cleaner look- AND LED's! $3.99 a strand and has 25 lights on it.

:iagree: but if i don't have a good use for my OEM inverter at least once a year it seems like a waste:lmao: And no changing batteries:D
