REALLY CLEAN WINDOWS! Is there such a thing?

I'm kind of a stickler about clean windows and I HATE the haze that builds up inside and out over time that seems impossible to really get rid of like when the car was new.

I was about to ask on the forums here for advice on cleaning auto glass. I've tried a lot of things, I generally resort to Windex as the least streaky after wash cleaner. (Even though a lot of other auto cleaners say such, they don't seem to be).

But even after 3-4 cleanings there are still streaks of what look like oil or wax or some kind of build up. Cant see them normally but in reflections or when the sun is shining through the window it looks like crap.

Well I took a chance on buying some Rain-X X-Treme Clean window cleaner and it works amazing! Makes windows look like new again! :shocked:

It works a bit like a wax (or maybe a wax remover) You put it on sparingly with a damp applicator, then wipe/polish off with a microfiber towel. It takes of EVERYTHING. Zero greasy looking streaks and haze left over.

Not for every day cleaning, but like every 3-6 months or so like a wax job I suspect.

You use this on the inside and out and even on tinted part? I just use the rain-x glass cleaner and it seems to work pretty good.

I use this for the inside Meguiars Perfect Clarity Glass Cleaner, window cleaner, auto glass cleaner, windshield cleaner and Rainex for the outside.

What I use so I don't get any streaks is use news paper instead of towels.

Not used on tint, afraid to really use anything on the tint :/

I also have the normal rain-x glass cleaner, and although that and windex works ok for normal every day cleaning, after a few months there is still the buildup of oil? grease? Wax? something on the windows that just doesn't come off with normal cleaning even after 3-4 tries.

So I figure the extreme clean stuff is good to use every 6 months or so but regular cleaners for once a week...

invisible glass plus newspaper, can't go wrong. the foaming action of the invisible glass lifts dirt off the glass unlike windex or other liquid. or so I've been told.

If you want the cleanest exterior glass...

1. Clean off extraneous dirt etc. with a good glass cleaner like Invisible Glass (my weapon of choice)
2. "Deep clean" the glass with Mothers California Gold Water Spot Remover.
3. Clean again with Invisible Glass

Water beads off the glass like it has Rain-X. Tinted glass reflects like a mirror. Just be careful when applying the water spot remover around rubber or unpainted plastic trim,it'll bleach the surface.

I use the Invisible Glass with water repellent and it cleans plus makes the water bead when driving in rain!

I use invisible glass cleaner after each wash but alas right now our 4runners sit outside so the glass is prone to some waterspotting and mineral deposit build up. Autoality in pittsburgh hooked me up with this combo and I can't say enough good things about it. Easy to use and the glass looks brand new on 2 - 2005's and 1 -2007.
