Cloudy plastic headlamp lenses-2005 4runner

Did the Meguire buff job to my headlamp lenses and they came out sparkling new! Thanks for the help! The kit can be purchased at Wally World for $25. Just follow the easy directions. A black&decker cordless drill worked fine. This is the "Heavy Duty kit" with the yellow buffer wheel. I also installed window visors to the front and passenger windows. I bought the AVS kit, but would recommend the WeatherTech or maybe the Stampede kits because the AVS visors needed modifications right out of the box. The passenger visors were too long causing them to buckle outwards. I had to shave the edges with a utility knife, which helped, but the molded area was too long as well. And the driver side front didn't sit flush with the inner window gasket. So I had to add double-sided tape to the tab to secure it (So the window would close!) These are the "In-Channel" visors that were around $65. I didn't trust the tape on the outside the door frame ones. The in-channel works well now after the mods. I found these on "RealTrucks" website. Very surprised more people don't have these installed. They are a nice touch to the outer appearance and allow you to leave the windows down so you don't have to run the A/C all the time...:drummer:

Have ever tried to pull off 3m double sided body moulding tape ain't that easy my old vent shade broke before the tape gave way when redoing the body on my 92..

Can the Meguiar's pad be hooked up to a polisher? I have a Dewalt polisher that I would rather use for this. Need to do the wifey's XC90 headlights.

Just buy the $8 bottle of Meguiars ultimate compound. It's the same thing and you can use it with a foam pad. I got my foam pads at Harbor freight for like $3.99 a piece

I used the sand paper I use for cleaning my camera dome and it came out just fine. I should have used that earlier instead of wasting money on the 3M kit since for some reason never gave me the result I wanted.

I've used the Meguire's kit on several vehicles, most recently my dad's 02 Tundra. It's worked great for me. For those looking for pics, here's a before and after:

I used that kit, and a couple of other brands and the results were temporary. I think two months was the longest before I had to do it again.

I got lucky and bought a new set of headlights on my local kijiji site from someone who bought the wrong type for his vehicle.

These kits will work, but don't expect them to be permanent. At least not in my experience. Maybe a professional detail-er can make it last longer.

don't recall the kit I used to clear my headlights but it came with a UV protector/sealer that was put on once you got down to clear plastic. Did it two years ago. Came out nice, it's just now starting to cloud a bit again.

does the mequiars kit come with any kind of sealer?
