I just found this forum tonight and I'm glad I did. After years of dealing with the clunking on my 2003 4runner, I am about ready to push it off a cliff.
I have been jerked around by the Toyota dealership here in Tempe, AZ. They are very nice, but they know there is a major problem with the 4runner and they do everything but fix the problem.
I have had two driveshafts put on after years of being told that all I needed was to "lube the slip yoke". What a friggen joke. That doesn't work and is only a very temporary fix to a much larger problem.
After a couple months of the new drive shaft, my dam truck starting clunking again. I am beside myself and at a point where I want to take it back to the dealer and tell them to shove it. But I'm almost out of warranty and I really want to solve this problem.
Has anyone actually solved their clunking problem? I brought up the Lexus TSB to my Toyota service rep several months ago after researching the problem, and they said it wasn't relevant to my truck. I apparently need to go over the heads of my dealership.
